First off, while I rarely have any respect for Lolth, this is one of those times, with her having granted Malice's prayers for true conditional ignorance of what actually happened to Zak and Vierna.
And while the first fic in this series had already brought me to respect this version of Malice, her willingness to tamper with her memories to make sure their plans succeed kicked it up a notch.
I adore the conversation between Zak and Vierna about how she needs to act, especially all the ways Vierna lays groundwork for possibly revealing her true faith at some point.
Awwwwww. Little Drizzt having such a positive effect on all the resistance members is adorable.
And that's definitely a potent guardian Vierna created for Drizzt, even without her poisoning its natural weapons.
Eeeeeeee! I adore seeing Drizzt come into his ranger gifts so easily. And I love everyone else's bafflement about his knack.
I never would have thought I'd call anything Vhaeraun did "adorable", but his interaction with Vierna when she asks him about Drizzt's ranger gifts is exactly that.
Oh. Oh, Drizzt, sweetie. +gives him cuddles and hot cocoa+
I'm so glad that Zak has even half a clue as to what might be troubling Drizzt after the fight.
And I love how Vierna handles talking to Drizzt about it.
Definitely a good thing she warned him to not let anyone other than Zak see how he feels about it, though.
I have to laugh at how careful Zak is to conceal the exact depths of his protectiveness from Vierna, simply because I know she'd agree with what he's thinking.

Overall, a wonderful addition to the series.
